High-Productivity and Climate-Resilient Agriculture has become a priority for the scientific and technological development of Russia. This is stated in Presidential Decree No. 529 dated June 18, 2024.
The document also outlines a list of key science-intensive technologies:
Critical Technologies:
- Enhancing the productivity of livestock and their resistance to diseases, including through breeding.
- Developing next-generation veterinary drugs for the prevention and treatment of infectious diseases in livestock.
- Creating new varieties and hybrids of plants that are resilient to environmental changes.
- Developing biological and chemical means to increase crop yields and protect them from diseases and pests.
Cross-Cutting Technologies:
- Technologies based on synthetic biology and genetic engineering methods.
- Nature-like technologies.
- Biotechnology across various sectors of the economy.
